Description About Bhutan (Capital – Thimpu)A small peaceful state in the North Eastern part of India has a total area of 38,394 square kilometres. Travel to Bhutan The main points of entry are through Phuentsholing in the Southwest linking Bhutan with the Indian plains of West Bengal, through Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar that links with the Indian state of Assam and through Paro, where the entry is through Druk Air, the National airline of Bhutan. Reaching by Air The Bhutan’s only international airport at Paro, is located at a height of 7300 ft above sea level and surrounded by mountains and hills as high as 16,000 feet. Druk Air is the national air operating with two A319. It flies to destinations that include Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata, Bodh Gaya, Dacca, Kathmandu and Guwahati in Assam and Plans are also underway to invite other private airliners. The airport tax on departure from Paro is US$12 included in the airfare. Reaching by Land Phuntsholing (Southwest Bhutan), Gelephu (south Bhutan) and Samdrup Jongkhar (southeast Bhutan) in eastern Bhutan are the only land border areas open for international tourists. The town of Phuntsholing is located approximately 170 km east of the Indian national airport Bagdogra. After crossing Phuntsholing, for the 176 km stretch your journey is approximately 6 hrs till you enter Thimphu, the capital city. Entry Permit One needs to be endorsed by the immigration officers upon arrival before issued with a permit. One needs Passport/ voter ID card & photo. Travel procedures Every tourist visiting Bhutan is required to travel through a licensed/authorized tour operator based in Bhutan. Travel has to be pre-planned, pre-paid and guided. The government stipulates a minimum all-inclusive entry fee per night to cover for all your logistical arrangements during your stay in Bhutan. Visas Visas must be processed prior to your travel to Bhutan. Local Tour operators as your local host/agent can take care of all necessary formalities. Simply send him a scan copy of your passport page. Visas are granted on payment of US$40 for the applied period and further extendable once you are in the country.


Day 1 .

Arrive in Paro from Delhi by Druk Air flight KB205 (dep.1145; arr.1535 hrs.) flying past the world’s highest peaks On arrival, meet & greet, transfer you to Hotel. Check in for your room and refreshments. Relax for a while, or take a brief stroll to Paro town. At 1700 hrs., local rep. shall present an hour special complimentary cultural program of mask and folk dances to welcome the group to be organized in a community temple in Namker village. Dress up in local costumes for the cultural show. O/n in Hotel.


Day 2 .

A guided sightseeing tour of Thimphu - the capital city and the national cultural hub. A guided sightseeing tour of Textile Museum, School of Traditional Arts & Crafts, and the largest weekend vegetable market in Thimphu. Try & sqeeze a guided sightseeing tour of Paro valley to visit Paro Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong and the 7th century Kichu monastery.


Day 3 .

Departure. Drive to the Paro International airport for safe passage (15 min. to catch Druk Air flight KB204 (dep. 0800; arr. 1045) for onward journey to Delhi.
